Why diets are NOT a good idea
- They rarely, if at all, work long-term
- Yo-yo dieting can potentially cause damage to major organs, including liver, kidneys and heart as well as to bones and muscles.
- You may lose weight but still dislike yourself and the way you look
- Dieting affects your metabolic rate, with a likely "rebound effect"
- Other possible effects of dieting include hair loss, gallstones, constipation, irregular periods
- Dieting can affect the immune system and make you more susceptible to infections and other diseases
