What is sleep?

Sleep is a state of consciousnesses, which gives our body time to rest and build up strength. While we are asleep, our body goes through different stages at approximately 90 minute cycles: light sleep, deep sleep and dreaming, the latter also known as rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
